The 2025 Tennessee Legislative Session Is Underway
That’s how the day began in Nashville Tuesday on the opening day of the session.
State Representative David Hawk of Greeneville, who is the dean of the house Republican caucus, is beginning his 23rd year, his 12th two-year term in the General Assembly.
In a Radio Greeneville interview this morning, Hawk was already answering questions pertaining to the School Voucher Bill.
Following a show of support for the voucher bill earlier this week, Hawk says there is no truth to a rumor that funding for flood relief in affected counties will be contingent on a vote favoring the Governor’s Voucher Bill proposal.
Hawk said he discussed the matter with the Governor during a face-to-face meeting on Tuesday
Hawk says he was surprised by a show of support by some Northeast Tennessee County Mayors supporting the voucher.
