A man upset over his Xfinity bill was arrested Thursday on assault and disorderly charges, and the store manager was also charged.
In his report, Greeneville Police Officer Burton Ellis says he was flagged down during the Noon hour by citizens in the Greeneville Commons about a fight between two men outside the Xfinity store.
Other officers arrived as Ellis was breaking up what was called a physical confrontation between the Xfinity Store Manager Daniel Mitchell and customer Gary Arnold.
According to the report, Arnold had entered the store to dispute a bill. The store manager said Arnold became irate about a ten minute wait for customer service. Mitchell said he told the man to leave the store multiple times, which he finally did while being escorted outside by Mitchell. A verbal exchange then turned physical. The report indicates Mitchell bumped heads with Arnold who then punched Mitchell in the face several times.
Officer Ellis says he had to use force to detain the store Manager Mitchell. Arnold also failed to comply with orders to get on the ground saying he was “too old” to do so.
Both men, Arnold of Mohawk Creek Road in Midway and Mitchell of McGuire Road in New Market, were eventually taken into custody on charges of Assault and Disorderly Conduct with Sessions Court appearances pending.
