Despite the devastation of the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene, the annual Crockett Days celebration will be held this year, but at a different location.
Extensive damage was done at the David Crockett Birthplace State Park during the Hurricane Helene floods when raging water of the Nolichucky River swept the park away. This year Crockett Days will be held at the Doak House Museum at Tusculum University on August 9th and 10th.
The park received official recognition in 1958, the year the first celebration was held. It is celebrated on his birthday. This would be David Crockett’s 239th Birthday. This event will be the 67th Annual Crockett Days.
Organizers say the event will have the same history and fun just at a different location. Crockett Days gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the 18th century style.
