The Greene County Planning Commission will have a new chair when it reorganizes at its next meeting.
After serving over 11 years on the Planning Commission, Gwen Lilley announced Tuesday that she would be stepping down from the commission. Lilley served as chair of the commission since May 2025. She served as vice-chair for period prior to that.
Lilley said she had enjoyed her time on the commission even though it had involved tackling challenging issues at times. She noted that she wanted to give someone else an opportunity to serve their community by being on the Planning Commission.
A new member will be appointed to the Planning Commission by Mayor Kevin Morrison, which the County Commission will consider for confirmation at a future meeting.
In other business, Gary Rector, a Planning Commission member and a supervisor with the County Road Department, said that a road had recently been constructed in the Red Tail Ridge housing subdivision that was not on the subdivision’s approved plat.
Rector noted phase two home construction was currently in progress in the subdivision, but that a home had not yet been constructed on the unidentified road that had been built. Rector said that he saw a set of plans at the site that showed the road, but that the road is not shown on the approved plat with the county.
Building Official Tim Tweed said he would review the matter with the property surveyor.
