Kevin Morrison and Mark Britton were sworn in as County Mayor and County Road Superintendent on Monday night at the Greene County Administration Center in front of a small crowd of supporters that included family members and friends.
Morrison, who will be serving his third term as the county’s mayor, said the people of Greene County had chosen their county government representatives well.

Morrison was first elected Greene County Mayor in 2018 and previously served as a Greene County Commissioner from 2002 to 2010, and then for a handful of months as an appointee to the governing body in 2016. He was reelected to the mayor’s seat in early August.
Morrison is lifelong resident of Greene County, and a graduate of North Greene High School. He is a U.S. Army veteran that worked in the medical sales industry after the service. He is also a lay minister.
BRITTON SWORN IN
Mark Britton took the oath of office for County Road Superintendent surrounded by his family members on Monday. He is a first time officeholder.
Britton grew emotional as he thanked his family and friends after taking the oath of office.

Britton’s experience includes 15 years at Summers Taylor and a couple of years with Weems Excavating and Paving. He is currently the paving supervisor at the Greene County Highway Department.
Britton is a 1984 graduate of North Greene. He has been with the Highway Department the past nine years.
While Mark Britton was being sworn in with his wife Leslie along side him , across town she was being announced as the new Treasurer of the Greene County Republican Party. The appointment was made by the executive committee of the party after Alan Marsh stepped down from that postion.
The announcement by Republican Party Chair Tom Bible came during the monthly meeting of the party, although it was held a week earlier due to Labor Day next week.
