Multiple counterfeit bills were reported from Sunday into Monday to the Greeneville Police Department.
The first was reported at a Marathon Market Quick Stop on 860 West Andrew Johnson Highway Sunday. The Store Manager stated they received a fake $100 from an unknown male who was with a female before 3 PM. Security footage was provided to the Police Department.
The same individuals reportedly went into a Quick Stop at 3685 Erwin Highway about an hour later. They passed the fake $100 bill and bought a $15 lottery ticket. They both then left in a red Ford Flex. The manager found the counterfeit bill yesterday while counting the store’s money.
Another was reported Sunday night about 8 PM at a Quick Stop on 601 Asheville Highway. The store received a fake $20 bill but was not able to identify who could have passed the fake bill.
A Quick Stop on 1660 East Andrew Johnson Highway reported forgery about 10:45 AM yesterday. The Store Manager brought a deposit to the bank, who found a counterfeit $100. The bank discovered another fake $100 bill that afternoon. It was placed into evidence. No suspects were known at the time of the reports.
