After setting different estimated dates for completing repairs on the 11E bridge over Snapps Ferry Road, the project now has no completion date according to Tennessee Department of Transportation officials.
Work on the bridge has been ongoing for months, and the repairs have taken much longer than anticipated.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation began repair work on the bridge in January leading to the closer of one lane on each side of the bridge. The closure has led to traffic delays in the area since the repairs started.
Additionally, the on ramp from Snapps Ferry to Southbound 11E has been closed during the repair process.
While repairs on the bridge deck were expected to be completed by the end of April, a TDOT representative said in late April that work on the deck would extend into May.
The “contract completion date” for the entire repair project, not just the deck, was originally set for June 15. That date has now come and gone, and the bridge remains constricted to one lane for traffic traveling in both directions as the project is still unfinished.
A recent statement from TDOT said that work on the bridge was “still progressing,” and that “an updated completion date” for the project would be provided at a later time.
Work being down on the bridge includes concrete deck repair and some substructure repairs according to TDOT. In addition, epoxy, paint, asphalt, and striping will be applied during the project.
