Multiple calls came in regarding power outages this morning, mainly along East Church Street, Main Street, the Old Asheville Highway, and the surrounding side streets.
Around 8:30 am the Greeneville Energy Authority (GEA) website showed 45 outages, affecting a little over 2,000 people. An update at approximately 9:15 showed 38 outages with a little over 3,500 residents affected. Then at 9:20 the map was apparently updated again to show no outages in the coverage area.
Outages, however, continued to be reported sporadically throughout the morning.
No word, yet, on what caused the morning outages.
