The City of Tusculum Board of Mayor and Commissioners will hold an appeal hearing Tuesday night regarding a condemnation order that was served against the Suburban LaVilla Inn in late May.
The motel at 4825 East Andrew Johnson Highway was shut down May 30 by the Tusculum Police Department in response to public safety and nuisance concerns. The building was boarded up and all individuals living in rooms were expelled from the premises at that time.
A condemnation order was served by the City of Tusculum in late June that stated the motel was unsafe and unfit for human occupancy, with a list of code violations. Tuesday’s meeting is in response to an appeal of that order by motel owner Vivek Vatrana.
The Board of Mayor and Commissioners will hold a hearing that will include questioning by attorneys representing both the city and Vatrana. The board will then deliberate before announcing a decision.
Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 7:00 pm at Tusculum City Hall.
