In other agenda items Tuesday, Greeneville City Council:
- The town accepted a $30,160.00 donation from the Greene County Tennis Association and later approved that amount for resurfacing of three courts at the tennis complex on Hal Henard Road. David Bailey, representing the Tennis Association, told City Council 69% of the funds came from corporate donations and 31% from individuals and grants. Work on those courts will begin following work on three other courts at the facility.
- Application for a School Resource Officer Program grant was approved. The $525,000 grant, with no match required, funds the seven SRO positions in the City School System.
- The low bid of $343,446 was awarded to Construction Management of Morristown for Phase 1 of the Eastview sidewalk improvement project on Bernard Avenue.
- An increase in garbage rates for the Municipal Solid Waste Fund was approved for the current $47 to $65 per ton.
- That same rate increase was also approved for new tipping fees for Class 1 commercial residential waste at the Greeneville-Greene County Landfill.
- Purchase of equipment to transport Class III demolition waste was also approved. The price, not to exceed $700,000, will be paid for with landfill funds.
- City Council approval was also granted for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Administrative Services Agreement.
- During the public comment period early in the meeting, the board heard from Tracy Solomon of Greeneville, voicing concerns will operations at the airport and recent decisions by the Airport Authority Board.
