The Greeneville City Council met in regular session Tuesday.
OLD HARMONY CEMETERY
The council approved moving ahead with plans for the updating of the Old Harmony Cemetery entry, pathways and signage. A request for quotes will be advertised for those interested in submitting a design concept for the plans.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL COMPLEX
The beach volleyball complex at Hardin Park is quickly becoming known as a location for many out-of-town guests from around the south and beyond to host events.
According to Parks and Recreation Athletic Director Tim Bowman, the site has:
-hosted 2024 & 2025 NAIA National Invitational.
-hosted a pairs challenge with 6 collegiate teams from NCAA Division 1 and 2
-will be hosting the SACC (SAC – Conference Carolinas Preview in March
-will be playing host to the SACC conference tournament in April
-they are also in talks with Tennessee Tech, who approached Greeneville about hosting weekend tournaments as well as other Division 1 schools
-also working on plans to bring the OVC/ASUN Challenge to Greeneville for 2027
-also hoping for some adult pro events soon but those are not set up yet
-development of more locker rooms at the facility is already underway
On Tuesday, the City Council approved the purchase of shade structures for the complex. The $18,287.12 comes from tourism grant funds.
GREENEVILLE HEALTH AND EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES BOARD
Lynn Broyles was appointed to a six-year term on the Greeneville Health and Educational Facilities Board.
LANDFILL REPLACEMENT ENGINE
City Council approved a Hatz diesel replacement engine for the air burner and related components at the landfill in the amount of $13,070.00.
A CHRISTMAS YOU CAN ONLY IMAGINE SPECIAL EVENT SIGN REQUEST
A special event sign request from Dickson Williams Manson was approved for “A Christmas You Can Only Imagine” scheduled for December 5th.

13 recent graduates were recognized after completing the six week academy.
