Several scams seem to still be occurring throughout Greeneville and another victim has fallen for the scheme.
A Chuckey Highway woman reported Friday that on June 17th a man from Andy Sweepstakes contacted her stating she won $18.5M. The man named Andy Goldburge reportedly requested $200 from the victim for paperwork and asked for $300 for the transfer of funds. The victim said she bought a green dot money card and placed $200 on it. The information was provided to the suspect so he could receive money for the so-called paper work.
According to the report, on June 18th the victim spoke with the CEO of the alleged company who requested an additional $300 for more paperwork. On June 19th Goldburge allegedly called the victim asking for $200 for a title. The victim did as requested and provided the funds via an eBay and VISA card.
The report details are somewhat unclear. It states Goldburge provided the woman a Wells Fargo bank account number and advised her to pay her credit cards off using that Wells Fargo account. She then reportedly received $1,000 towards paying off her credit card and was told the account belonged to someone in Florida. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office advised the woman to notify her bank immediately and have her accounts changed.
Remember to not fall for these continued schemes. Do not give out your personal information or give anyone money. Scammers will also try to manipulate you and pretend to be one of your family members. They tend to try and scam older folks and pretend to be their grandchild. Do not be their next victim.
