A log cabin at 305 Chuckey Ruritan Road South was destroyed by fire Tuesday night.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene shortly after 8:30 PM. All occupants were out of the house at that time and the residence was fully engulfed.
The victims said the fire started on the back porch. They had reportedly put ashes into a trash bag earlier. They later heard a loud pop and saw the fire. The home, valued at $175,000, was a total loss. A Toyota SUV, valued at $3,000, also caught on fire.
The Tusculum, Limestone, Newmansville and Mosheim fire departments responded to the scene, along with the Debusk Rehab Unit and Chaplain Danny Ricker.
This is the fourth residence fire that has occurred in Greene County since Friday. As Radio Greeneville News previously reported, emergency personnel responded to fires on Houston Valley Road on Monday, Oakdale Drive on Saturday, and Kingsport Highway on Friday.
