A Chuckey man was arrested on Sunday afternoon with a stolen vehicle and a large amount of methamphetamine.
Washington County deputies patrolling Highway 11-E pulled into the parking lot of a business and saw a vehicle they knew was reported as stolen. The plate on the truck did not match the vehicle and had an expired decal.
Deputies located the driver, identified as 47-year-old Robert Keith Jenkins, inside the business. The manager said Jenkins was actively shoplifting. When asked about the truck, Jenkins first said he found it abandoned on his property, then stated he paid an unknown individual $200 for the truck.
When the truck was inventoried prior to towing, deputies located 17 grams of methamphetamine, four packaged Buprenorphine strips, and two unidentified pills inside the center console.
Jenkins was arrested for receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, schedule II drug violations, theft under $1,000, and expired registration.
Jenkins was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on a $22,000 bond. A court date was scheduled for Monday.
