A Chuckey couple was arrested Monday afternoon after Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a domestic in progress call at their Dashaway Road home.
Upon arrival, deputies observed Wanda Shipley about to strike her husband Allen Ferguson over the head with a plate. Deputies seperated them and spoke to both individually. He reported an argument turned physical and she hit him several times, with his cane. The report indicates he did have pump knots on his head and legs. She said he was the one who struck her.
Both were taken into custody for domestic assault. Since she is said to have used her husband’s cane on him, she was charged with aggravated domestic assault. Wanda Shipley is also charged with resisting arrest related to when they attempted to take her into custody. They say she also slipped out of her handcuffs while being transported to the Detention Center.
Both remain held pending sessions court hearings.
