North Greene and University of Tennessee graduate Christopher Stone is running for a seat on the Greene County Commission in the first district and will do so as an Independent candidate.
Stone is a Greene County native, having grown up in the Lost Mountain community.
He is a Senior Engineer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as well as a farmer and cattleman. He is co-founder of Sustainable Meats, a small business that retails all natural cuts of beef, pork, and lamb.
Since November 2024, he has been serving as Treasurer for North Greene Utilities, Inc. You may remember his name from last week when he and another board member Dale “Bud” Tucker discussed improvements made with the Utilities District since the new board took over last year.
Stone and his wife Dr. Katherine Stone have been married 27 years and have two adult children.
As an Independent, Stone he will not be on the May ballot but will challenge Republican and Democratic qualifiers in the August General Election.
