Police responded to a hit and run crash around 6:00 PM Saturday at the 200 block of East Andrew Johnson Highway. The crash involved a pickup truck that had driven between a Jeep Wrangler and another SUV, causing damage to both vehicles.
The driver of the pickup then fled the scene. After investigating the crash, police met with deputies at a disturbance call on Bolton Road near Kingsport Highway. Four witnesses had followed the pickup truck to the location, where officers identified Christopher Patton of Chuckey, who had allegedly caused the crash.
Patton reportedly admitted to causing damage to the other vehicles and leaving. Deputies conducted a driving under the influence investigation and arrested Patton. Police served him a criminal summons in the Detention Center for failure to exercise due care and leaving the scene of an accident.
