Two candidates hoping to be on the August ballot have had their names at least temporarily removed from the ballot by the State Republican Party.
Tammy Albright and Chad Huntsman are on a list of 40 across the state who have been notified they have been temporarily removed from the ballot. Candidates do have the opportunity to appeal. While the party has notified each why they are on the list, the reasons are not listed on a letter from state GOP Chair Scott Golden to Election Commissioner Mark Goins. Albright has said she was removed due to failure to vote in three out of the past four primaries, one of the requirements of bona-fide status of the Republican Party.
Albright plans to run against David Hawk for the State House of Representatives and Huntsman is hoping to face State Senator Steve Southerland in August.
Five local candidates went through this same process during qualifying for the May election, but all five were later reinstated.
