A variety of factors have led to slowed and backed up traffic on Interstate 81 in Hamblen and Greene County today.
TDOT Spokesman Mark Nagi said that guardrail replacement work was taking place in Greene County, along with mowing of the medians. A car fire and a multi car accident in Hamblen County added to backups that stretched at one point from Exit 8 almost to Exit 23.
Traffic was beginning to flow again after 4PM as the work finished and the accident sites were cleared.
