Candidates for Mayor, Sheriff and Road Superintendent addressed the Greene County Republican women during their monthly meeting Friday at the General Morgan Inn.
HAWK ANNOUNCES LEGISLATION
State Representative David Hawk discussed a bill passed in both the House and Senate last week, telling the group those that are paid protesters and do damage or cause violence, the person that paid them can be held civilly liable in the state of Tennessee. The bill awaits the Governor’s signature.
SOUTHERLAND ANNOUNCES
State Senator Steve Southerland updated the group of an email from the Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry (TDF) announcing the application period is open for a special round of Forest Legacy Program (FLP) funding made available to landowners to protect privately owned forested land from development. Applications should be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Central time on May 22.

The Greene County Republican Party will meet again on Monday April 6 at 6:00 pm at the Headquarters on Snapps Ferry Road across from Food City. Candidates for Mayor and Sheriff will also address that gathering.

Membership in the Greene County Republican Women’s Club is $25, and $15 for men as Associate members.
VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE
The deadline to vote in the May 5th election is April 6th.
EARLY VOTING
Early voting for the May election is April 15-30th.
NEXT MEETING OF THE REPUBLICAN WOMEN
The next meeting of the Republican Women will be April 24th at the General Morgan Inn. County Commission candidates who wish to speak should contact a member of the women’s group to be on the agenda.
TUESDAY FORUM
The Greene County Partnership is sponsoring the public forum for Sheriff and County Mayor candidates Tuesday evening at the Walters State Greeneville campus
The event, which will be open to the public, begins at 6:30 p.m., and will be held at the Lyceum at the college, which is located on North College Street in the downtown Greeneville area.
Radio Greeneville President and CEO Ron Metcalfe will ask each candidate one or more questions, which they will then answer. There will be no debate between candidates. The public will have the opportunity to submit questions of their own.
The forum will be broadcast live on WGRV 99.5 FM/ AM 1340 and live streamed.
