The Camp Creek Ruritan is organizing a special event Monday to remember the past and honor the community. Monday, April 27 marks the night 15 years ago in 2011 the powerful and deadly Tornado outbreak tore through Greene County, including the Camp Creek and Horse Creek communities and into the South Central community in Washington County.
EF-3 tornadoes with winds up to 165 miles per hour devastated those communities. Eight persons lost their lives and hundreds of homes, businesses, churches and farms were destroyed or badly damaged.
On Monday, Club President Reta Reaves says the Camp Creek Ruritan Pavilion will be open from 8 am until 6 pm for citizens to sit and reflect on the past 15 years and how much has changed. Visitors are also encouraged to visit the memorial.
