It was a busy Sunday afternoon for the United Volunteer Fire Department.
Shortly before 1:30 , units were dispatched to West Pines Road where a motorcycle which had driven into a field and caught grass on fire. The fire was out when the fire department arrived. The operator of the motorcycle was not injured.
Just before 5:45, United responded to a motorcycle accident on Van Hill Road. But apparently what a fire department report described as good samaritans had arrived on the scene before emergency responders did. One took the motorcycle off the roadway and to his residence, while another escorted the injured party to the hospital for treatment.
