Deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department investigated a Breaking/Entering reported from the Doty Chapel Church in Afton yesterday morning.
The report says a silver Chevrolet Cavalier was parked near the property that could have possibly been involved. The driver was also seen outside the vehicle looking around. The same vehicle reportedly drove up and down the road multiple times. Property owners stated they didn’t believe items were actually taken but there were multiple items staged outside. There was also a wheelbarrow full of tools in the weeds.
While deputies were on the scene the same Chevy was seen driving on the road toward the Kingsport Highway. The driver, Ryan Humphries of Greeneville, failed to stay within the lane and a traffic stop was initiated. No items were located in the vehicle. Humphries had a revoked license 3rd offense and was taken into custody.
