The man who barricaded himself in a Warrensburg Road home Friday, threatening family members and firing shots at officers, made his initial court appearance today in Greene County Sessions Court.
Appearing before Judge Kenneth Bailey, Jr. 47-year-old Todd McCamey, who gave a Knoxville home address, was arraigned on three counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Domestic Assault and a charge of Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
Total bond for McCamey was set at a total of $700,000 following discussions between Assistant District Attorney Ritchie Collins, defense attorney Berkeley Bell and the judge. The bonds were $200,000 on each of the attempted murder charges, $50,000 on the firearm related charge and $25,000 each on the domestic assault charges.
Authorities responded to a “Domestic in Progress” call at the residence in the 1300 block of Warrensburg Road around 7:00 am Friday. The caller told dispatchers that, after threatening family members McCamey had barricaded himself in the basement of the home where he had guns and knives. When officers arrived on the scene. Lt. Mike Fincher was brought on scene as a negotiator. For over five hours, McCamey fired multiple shots inside the home and toward officers stationed outside. Around 12:30 pm, McCamey contacted officers to say he wanted to resolve the situation peacefully.
McCamey was taken into custody without further incident and was transported to the Greene County Detention Center where he remains following his jail video appearance in court this morning. Should he post bond, he will be attached to a global positioning device. At the request of the state, he would also be prevented from contact with two of the victims in the home at the time of the incident. Bell also spoke to the court about an evaluation of his client. His next court date is December 15th at 1:30 pm.
