A motorcycle was stolen on Tuesday and then recovered after the victim reported getting waived down by a man claiming he broke down, who then drove off with the bike.

Deputies spoke with the victim who said he noticed a black Ford sitting on the side of the road near Mount Carmel Road. He stated the suspect started yelling and waving their arms for him to stop. The victim said he got off his bike and left the key in the ignition while he spoke to the suspect, who complimented his bike. The suspect, Joshua Willis of Greeneville, then allegedly got on the bike and took off. He was followed by another woman who got into the driver seat of the black Ford.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department was notified about the theft and spotted the bike with the black Ford following behind, near Rolling Hills Road. A pursuit began and Willis was ended up stopping in the road where he was given commands to step away from the bike but reportedly still drove away. Willis eventually got into a wreck near Smelcer Road after going into the grass and tipping the bike over.

He was arrested charges including evading arrest, theft of property and unlawful drug paraphernalia, as officer did state a used syringe was found in his pocket. No injuries were reported. Warrants will be taken out for Emily Hawk, who was listed in the report with the suspect.
