Two people reported they were assaulted by motorcycle riders Saturday evening on the 70 By-Pass.
The victims told police they were driving through the intersection of the Asheville Highway at West Main Street, as two motorcyclists were turning onto the 70 By-Pass. Once the victims had merged, the Harley-Davidson riders pulled up next to them and gave lewd gestures.
The victims stated that when they stopped at the light at West Summer Street, one of the motorcycle riders got off and began punching the driver’s window. One of the victims got out of the car and the rider began assaulting him, according to the report. During the scuffle, the car was allegedly dented twice. The second cyclist came and began assaulting the victim as well, after which both subjects returned to their motorcycles and left the scene. They were reported to have been wearing black vests and black half-helmets, and one of the cyclists had a passenger.
Police identified the Harley-Davidson owners by way of the motorcycles’ license plates, but had not made contact at the time of the report.
