One person was transported to the hospital for treatment following an assault incident that occurred outside a Greeneville restaurant on Monday afternoon.
The Greeneville Police Department responded to Monterrey Mexican Restaurant around 5:20 PM on the report of a fight in progress. Rachel Thompson of Live Oak Lane was found bleeding heavily from the back of her head. Thompson said she and Liam Lawlor of Jonesborough started arguing inside the restaurant. The argument turned physical in the parking lot when Lawlor allegedly slammed her down. Lawlor said Thompson started shoving him first and began striking him. He said he then pushed her back.
A witness reportedly saw Thompson exit the restaurant with Lawlor following her. The witness told police that Thompson then turned around, went back toward Lawlor, and started hitting him. The witness said Lawlor then pushed Thompson down on the sidewalk, causing her to hit her head.
Thompson was transported to Greeneville Community Hospital for treatment. Thompson and Lawlor were both issued summons to appear in court Friday for assault.
