Aggravated Assault Charges resulted from a confrontation at a hotel on the Andrew Johnson Highway last night.

Around 11:00 PM Friday, police were dispatched to the Andrew Johnson Inn for a fight in progress involving a gun.

Officers spoke with the victim, who stated he was attempting to get the neighbors to be quiet, and two individuals became aggressive towards him. The males were later identified as Eric James Gwyn of the Andrew Johnson Highway and Derrick Gwyn of Unaka Street. The victim told police the men both presented pistols. Other people, including two juveniles, were also allegedly nearby, and a witness said that one man told the other to stash one of the guns under the stairs before police arrived.

Officers later located a high point pistol with a filed off serial number under the staircase, and a Taurus handgun inside of a black backpack.

Officers placed both males under arrest for aggravated assault. While performing a search, police found 8 grams of suspected marijuana and rolling papers.

Eric Gwyn is charged with aggravated assault, 4 counts of reckless endangerment, simple possession of schedule 6 narcotics, and unlawful drug paraphernalia.

Derrick Gwyn is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, 4 counts of reckless endangerment, and alteration of a serial number. Both were transported to the Greene County Jail without incident.
