Article Deadline For “History Of Greene County, Volume II” Extended

Deadline for submission of family history articles has been extended to May 31 (from March 31), 2026.

You and your family are important to Greene County’s history. So important that the Greeneville and Greene County’s Genealogical Society has extended the deadline for family articles until the end of May 2026. Submissions will be used in the publication of our new, forthcoming county history book.

Greeneville and Greene County’s Genealogical Society Wants to Hear About Your Family History.

This new collection of family sketches is being prepared by the Greene County Book Committee.

This is a rare and unique opportunity. Only a limited number of books will be printed by the Walsworth Publishing Company and endorsed by the Greene County Legislative Body.

You and your family are important to Greene County’s history. So important that we cordially invited you to assist in the publication of our county history book.

The book will be 9 x 12, beautifully handbound in simulated leather with a gold stamped cover.

These books will make excellent gifts for birthdays and holidays. Only those who order in advance will be certain of receiving a copy.

All residents, former residents, and those with roots in Greene County may submit a family household history up to 1000 words or less and one photograph, which will be printed free.

We hope each of you will submit your family story. It is only with your support that this publication will portray Greene County.

Secure Your Place in Greene County History.

Requirements:

Submit your stories one of three ways:
Email stories and photographs to: [email protected]
Mail them to or drop them off in person at:
Greeneville/Greene County Public Library
210 North Main Street,
Greeneville, TN 37745
or T. Elmer Cox Genealogical and Historical Library
220 North Main Street, Greeneville, TN 37745

Up to 1000 words (or less) and one photograph will be printed for free.

Photographs will be printed in black and white. Please make them 300 dpi or higher. Also please note that photographs may be resized for printing.

Please identify the subjects in the photographs clearly and concisely as you want them printed.

This publication will also contain stories of Greene County places, things, and events. We are especially interested in churches, country stores, clubs or organizations histories. These are allowed up to 1000 words or less and one photograph.

All entries will be edited for spelling and grammar, but content will not be changed.

[Extended!]  Deadline for story submissions is May 31, 2026.

To order a copy of History of Greene County, Volume II, fill out an order form provided at various businesses around Greeneville and Greene County, including the Public Library and the T. Elmer Cox Genealogical and Historical Library.
