American Greetings Manufacturing, located at 101 American Road in Afton, has expanded and is looking to hire hundreds of new employees.
Greene County Partnership President Jeff Taylor said at the Tusculum Board of Mayor and Commissioners meeting Monday night that the local plant was looking to hire 206 employees.
The facility primarily produces wrapping paper and ribbons, and the growth was prompted by the acquisition of new gift wrap equipment. Taylor said that local companies have recently invested over $40 million in Greene County.
The new positions include press operators, machine operators, power truck operators, and maintenance roles.
Taylor said that the company is currently hiring, and is working to fill the open positions as quickly as possible. He noted the company paid well, and that their pay rates were competitive at around $20 per hour for some starting out depending on experience.
He noted that the facility will make about 2.7 billion feet of wrapping paper this year alone.
Based in Westlake, Ohio, American Greetings sells paper greeting cards, electronic greeting cards, gift packaging, stickers, and party products.
