A man who authorities say stole an ambulance in Carter County was arreted in Greene County after a pursuit and crash on Interstate 81.
Patrick L. Fults was reported to have stolen an ambulance from Sycamore Shoals Hospital Saturday morning. The ambulance was taken while paramedics were assisting a patient inside the hospital. The ambulance was spotted by a trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol near the Jeraldstown Road exit just after 10:00 AM headed southbound.
Fults refused to stop for the trooper and began to flee. A spike strip was deployed to stop the ambulance near the Rogersville Road exit, and the ambulance left the roadway and crashed. Fults was apprehended after a brief foot chase.
