Badcock Home Furniture and More will officially close its doors by the end of October.
On Wednesday, Radio Greeneville News spoke with an employee of the Greeneville store located at 1665 East Andrew Johnson Highway. The employee said the official closing date has not been confirmed but the store will close by the end of October. The storeowner Chase Garner, told employees the store could close sooner, possibly within 60 days.
The company started operating in 1904, with the first location established in Florida. There are over 300 stores located in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. All Badcock Home Furniture and more stores will soon close as their parent company reportedly filed for bankruptcy.
According to a Knoxville Store Manager from the parent company Conn’s HomePlus, they recently discovered their store would need to close due to “financially going under.” The Knoxville Manager said not much information was discussed with employees yet. He said because Conn’s HomePlus purchased Badcock Home Furniture and more, they are now also closing.
