Airport Budget Still Flying In The Clouds, But Clearer Skies Ahead

Greeneville Municipal Airport Manager Angela Alley told members of the Airport Authority Wednesday fuel sales have been up a bit recently, and that has helped improve the airports operating budget bottom line greatly.

Alley admitted some of that no doubt has come from the Morristown Flying Service having been based out of Greeneville recently while their airport was closed.  It did reopen this week.

Overall the past three months, the airport budget has cruised back into positive numbers, and has done so without having to dip into the recent $100,000 allocation.

In a five year plan which had been created for presentation to the City Council at a since postponed  budget workshop, Alley says the goal remains to be in positive numbers with less appropriations from the Town.

In other Airport Authority agenda items, the board approved July 1st as the start date for the new T-Hangar agreement, office lease and hangar rates.

Concrete repair of a hangar of Scott Niswonger was approved prior to arrival of a new Gulfstream soon.  TDOT has tentatively approved funding , but in order to complete the work prior to the new planes arrival, Niswonger will pay for the work himself upfront, with the understanding the money may or may not be recovered.

HVAC repairs at the main office building also received approval as did adoption of a TDOT Airport Capital Improvement Plan.
