An Afton man will spend the next 25 years in prison without parol following a plea deal on second degree murder charges.
36 year old William Justin Harrison of Highland Park Lane in Afton was charged in March of 2024 in the shooting death of 73 year old Clarence Lee Devoti at Devoti’s Old Stage Road residence.
Circuit Court Clerk Whitney Collins told Radio Greeneville News this morning that Harrison entered an Alford Plea in Greene County Criminal Court. Collins defined the Alford Plea as a best interest plea, rather than a trial by jury.
The plea requires Harrison to serve the entire 25 years behind bars, with no early release. The time will be served consecutive to a Violation of Probation charge.
Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Devoti residence in the 5400 block of Old Stage Road on March 28th of last year around 4:30 pm to a 911 call of a possible shooting.
Upon their arrival, Devoti was found with a gunshot wound. Deputies attempted CPR until EMS arrived. He was however pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation by the Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigations Division and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation led to the arrest of Harrison on the second degree murder charge.
