The holiday celebration last night for ‘Christmas in Downtown’ was a success with stores packed, plenty of events and memories to make through it all.
Music from Chuckey Doak Middle School, Tusculum View, Eastview, and Greeneville Highschool were provided for entertainment throughout the evening.
The Public Works Department provided wagon rides and the Winter & Company snowflake fairies escorted Santa to the Community Christmas tree via a tractor-pulled wagon. Summer Street, Church Street, College, and Main Streets were closed for the celebration, so parking was limited. Families and friends were forced to take a stroll throughout town to get to events on South Main Street. The weather was just right, not too chilly although there was some drizzle, but the set up with shops, dinning, music, and decor made it worth while.
The town came together to make the night happen with Greene County, Town of Greeneville, Greeneville Fire and Rescue, and Greeneville Police Department assisting to keep the night safe. Vaughn & Melton provided street lighting on E & W Depot Streets which helped guests navigate the project area.
The Greene County Partnership Tourism Task Force coordinated Southern Sanctuaries for the celebration and churches in downtown Greeneville provided self-guided tours.
