A Greeneville man arrested earlier this year for aggravated assault and child abuse following an incident on his Wilson Hill Road property had his case bound to a grand jury Friday.
Robert (Robbie) Britton appeared in Greene County Sessions Court this morning for a preliminary hearing before Judge Doug Collins of Hamblen County. Judge Ken Bailey had recused himself having known the accused.
Britton appeared in court with his attorney Crystal Jessee. Cecil Mills represented the state during the 50-minute hearing in which the then 14, now fifteen-year-old testified about the altercation between he and Britton.
Britton is alleged to have told the teen and three others with him, to get off his property. Video in court today shows the physical altercation between the two as the boy says he was going to retrieve his property. Britton is charged with grabbing the juvenile from behind, slamming him to the ground, and holding him down by his throat.
Another 14-year-old videoed the incident. Both boys testified during the hearing today.
The responding deputy viewed the video when he arrived on the scene then took Britton into custody.
