Third Judicial District Public Defender Todd Estep addressed the Greene County Republican women during their monthly meeting Thursday at The Harvest.
Rather than the usual opening comments in such meetings, Estep went immediately to a question and answer session. He fielded several questions related to his position as a public defender and the procedures and thought process he follows with those he defends.
Estep, who joined the Marines six days after finishing high school, was first elected to his current position in August of 2022, taking office the following month. And although it was nearly three years ago, Estep again thanked the 82% of Greene County voters who cast their vote for him in that 2022 campaign. In addition to Greene County, he also represents Hawkins, Hamblen and Hancock counties.

Several of the upcoming events discussed at the party meeting on Monday were outlined again to those attending Wednesday’s meeting, including the fair later this month, the party membership drive and the September picnic at the pavilion behind Doak School. The free picnic will be held that month instead of the regular midday meeting of the Republican women.
The August meeting will also be held at The Harvest on Thursday, August 14th
