George Clem Multicultural Alliance is having their 8th of August Celebration this Saturday, August 3rd at Coach JJ Jones Community Park.
The celebration dates back to 1863 when Andrew Johnson freed his personal slaves here in Greeneville. The first celebration was orchestrated in 1871 by Sam Johnson; (Andrew Johnson’s former slave) with a parade down Main Street.
Activities start at 2 pm with musical acts, kid games, food, and much more until 10 pm.
The Headliner is R&B sensation Rome, who will perform at 9 pm.
