The Special Event Application for the Halloween Hustle 3 Mile Glo Walk and Run was approved by the Greeneville City Council yesterday.
It’s the 3rd year for the event, hosted by Keep Greene Beautiful and if you didn’t already notice, this year they added a 3 Mile Run. Director Jennifer Wilder said it was added because last year people were mad they couldn’t run. The Halloween Hustle will be on October 28th in Downtown Greeneville and starts at 7 PM. A Special Event Application to close portions of Main, Irish, Depot, Summer, and College Streets for Halloween Happenings was also approved.
Two Council members were nominated to vacant seats during the meeting. Tim Ward was appointed to the Roby Fitzgerald Adult Center Advisory Committee and Greeneville/Greene County Library Board. Tim Teague was appointed to the Historic Zoning Commission.
Other items approved include the purchase of a software upgrade with Local Government Corporation in the amount of $48,500, an Ordinance to amend Section 202 of the Town of Greeneville Municipal Code, exempting the requirement for special event vendors to obtain a peddlers permit, and a consideration to increase the number of special events, including events serving beer or wine. Special events that require a permit were updated from 20 to 40 per year and events including beer and wine were updated to 12 events per year from 6.
