Damage assements show that the flooding of the Nolichuckey River caused over $23 million in damage just to structures.
The damage assessment was overseen by the Greene County Property Assessor’s Office. Representatives evaluated 120 different structuers and attachments. 55 of those were designated as destroyed, 50 sustained major damage, 10 had minimal damage, 2 were affected, and 3 remained inaccessible for assessment.
EMA Director Heather Sipe said the number does not include outbuildings or farm structures at this time, only residential structures. It also does not include the loss of personal belongings, automobiles, or tractors.
