The Greene County Partnership is pleased to announce it has been awarded a USDA Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG) to fund a critical infrastructure study along the I-81 corridor in Greene County, Tennessee.
This grant will enable the Partnership to conduct a comprehensive assessment of infrastructure needs that will guide future investments in utility services, transportation, and development opportunities throughout the corridor. The study will serve as a blueprint for strengthening Greene County’s economic competitiveness, supporting new and existing businesses, and improving the quality of life for residents.
“This investment represents a tremendous step forward for Greene County,” said Jeff Taylor, President/CEO, Greene County Partnership. “The I-81 corridor is a vital economic artery for our region, and this study will provide us with the data and direction we need to expand our infrastructure in ways that attract business, foster job growth, and ensure reliable utility services for years to come.”
The I-81 corridor has long been identified as a strategic area for growth, with its proximity to major markets, transportation access, and available industrial sites. The infrastructure study will provide actionable recommendations to address capacity needs, utility expansions, and long-term planning that supports both community and business development.
“USDA’s support through the Rural Business Development Grant program is invaluable to communities like ours,” said Kevin Morrison, Greene County Mayor. “We are grateful for this partnership as we work to position Greene County for sustainable growth and continued prosperity.”
The Greene County Partnership will work closely with local government leaders, utility providers, and economic development stakeholders to ensure the study reflects the region’s needs and opportunities.
