Area fire departments were on standby Sunday after an Elevated Fire Risk Warning was issued by the National Weather Service.
The Nolichuckey Valley Volunteer Fire Department was called to a possible grass and pole fire Sunday evening. The fire was brought under control without further damage.

The Camp Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded last night to a dump truck on fire endangering nearby hay bales. The fire was extinguished and damaged mainly confined to the cab of the vehicle.


The Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department however was called to a woods fire shortly before 4:30 this morning on the Old Knoxville Highway near Benbow Road then were called back to the scene around 7:45 when they reported they extinguished a small grass fire.
