A young Walland, Tennessee woman who died in a motor vehicle crash over the weekend in Claiborne County, will be laid to rest later this week in Greene County, where she had numerous family ties.
22 year old Katlin Shay Burger passed away early Saturday when her Toyota 4Runner left Forge Ridge Road in Harrogate, rolled and struck a tree.
She is survived by her parents, Kevin and Annette Burger of Walland, 1 sister Kelsey Burger, grandparents, Robert and Trixie Venerable and Janice Burger, uncle and aunts, Danny & Elaine Venerable, Pam Venerable, cousins Danielle Venerable, Samantha Venerable, Megan Venerable and children, Robert & Jennifer Keller and family, Richard & Tasha Keller and family, aunts and uncles, Sammy & Tammy Fellers and their children, Sarah Daniels and her children, Harold Ray & Linda Daniels and their children, Chris & Trenda Berney and their children, Patrick Daniels and his children, Eric & Tonya Daniels and their children, great aunt Carolyn Goodman.
Katlin was preceded in death by her grandparents, Genevieve Venerable and Gordon & Margaret Burger, Uncle, Robert Dennis Venerable, and a cousin Nathan Venerable.
Katlin is a 2021 graduate of Heritage High School in Maryville where she excelled on the basketball court and soccer field. She was a member the Women’s Basketball program at UVA Wise, graduating in 2025. She was most recently teaching special education at Cumberland Gap High School where she was the assistant girl’s basketball coach.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 14, 2025 from 4-7 PM and Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 12-2 PM at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton. The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 PM in Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton with interment in Graceland Memorial Gardens.
