No arrests were made in an altercation which called police to a local restaurant Friday night, around 11:30.
Officers responded to a fight in progress at the Waffle House on East Andrew Johnson Highway. Once on the scene, contact was made with one man, who stated he and another man had gotten into a verbal argument over the second man winking at, and making comments about, the first man’s girlfriend who was also present.
The first man stated that during the argument, the second threw his arms in the air, came toward him and spat on him, he then hit the second man and knocked him down. The second man got up and returned the punch, at which time witnesses started attempting to break up the fight.
The second man’s story went a little differently when reported to the officers. He stated that the first man struck him when he came out of the restroom, over comments he had made earlier.
The second man was transported to the hospital by EMS for his injuries. But due to conflicting stories, no arrests were made and all parties were advised of private prosecution proceedings.
