The Greeneville City Council has several items on the agenda for the Tuesday, September 16 meeting.
MAYOR’S COMMENTS
Mayor Cal Doty will introduce Greeneville native Andy Broyles, who was recently appointed to the Development Services Department.
CITY MANAGER SEARCH
It’s expected the mayor will update the Council on the search for the new City Manager. Anticipation at the last council meeting two weeks ago was a three-to-six-month window for filling the position following the resignation of Todd Smith.
INTERIM CITY MANAGER
Interim City Manager Cathy Osborne should take the seat alongside the mayor normally reserved for the City Manager. It will be her first time in that seat since the appointment September 2.
AIRPORT HANGAR FUNDING
The council will be asked to local grant match of $33,500 for the Greeneville Airport Authority. The Airport Authority has been working with TDOT Aeronautics on this project for over two years. They were notified earlier this month they were eligible for the funding. Multiple years of grant funding have been saved to fund the construction of a box hangar that once built will generate revenue for the airport. Moving forward with this project will prevent the loss of $150,000 in grant funds set to expire soon. This project has already been bid and needs to be awarded before the bid expires on September 23, 2025. This is an opportunity to build a 1.3 million dollar hangar to produce revenue for the airport for approximately a 5% local match. The Airport Authority is seeking the local match of $33,342. Construction would begin in the fall with completion scheduled for next spring.
LIBRARY SEWER PROJECT
City Council will also consider funding in a change order for the sewer project at the Greeneville-Greene County Library.
TAX RELIEF PROGRAM
Consideration of increasing the amount of the local match from the Town of Greeneville for eligible participants in the State of Tennessee Tax Relief Program is also on the agenda.

A Special Event Application is necessary for the Hurricane Helene Remembrance Ceremony, which will be held on the Greene County Courthouse lawn on Monday, September 29th at 6:00 pm.
