Minor injuries were reported Thursday afternoon when a tractor-trailer rear-ended a pickup truck in the 6000 block of the Newport Highway.
The accident occurred around 12:45 PM when a Ford F-150 pickup driven by 45-year-old Teresa White stopped while waiting to make a left turn into the parking lot of Dollar General. The tractor-trailer driven by 45-year-old Robert Thacker was traveling behind the pickup. Thacker was reportedly unable to slow down in time and struck the rear of the F-150.
White and a 12-year-old passenger were taken to a local hospital for treatment of possible minor injuries. Thacker was not injured.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the wreck.
