A second accident Friday night also required a medical helicopter, but once again, weather conditions prevented an air response.
The crash occurred around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Newport Highway and Pates Lane and involved two vehicles. Emergency personnel from the Debusk Volunteer Fire Department, Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad, Greene County EMS and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.
As with the earlier wreck near Paint Creek, Highlands Air Rescue was requested but unable to fly due to thunderstorms in the area.
The Newport Highway was closed for a period of time while responders were at the scene.
