Listeners of WIKQ 103.1 FM are remembering the voice that helped them start their mornings for more than two decades. Marty Osborne, a veteran broadcaster and morning show host, died Wednesday, June 25, 2025. He was 67.
Known for his deep, steady voice and easy delivery, Osborne became a familiar presence to thousands of local listeners. He joined Radio Greeneville after a long career that took him through several major Southern radio markets, eventually returning home to Greene County, where he spent the remainder of his broadcasting career.
For most of his time at WIKQ, Osborne co-hosted the morning show with Ray Elliott, a partnership that defined local radio for a generation. Marty often referred to Ray as a “second father,” but their on-air chemistry had the back-and-forth energy of an old married couple. They didn’t always agree—and sometimes, it seemed like they enjoyed pushing each other’s buttons right up to the edge. But their banter was never mean-spirited. It made for great radio, and listeners always knew they’d circle back to laughter and friendship by the end of the show.
Osborne retired in from Radio Greeneville in 2022. His deep baritone voice was often described as the perfect radio voice—instantly recognizable and reassuring.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
