In other City Council news from Tuesday
STREET RESURFACING
Summers Taylor , despite having the second lowest bid, has been awarded the street resurfacing project on West Vann Road in Greeneville.
Scott Keith told City Council members Tuesday he recommended Summers Taylor over he PRI Pavement bid , although the Summers Taylor bid of $268.009 was $23,029 higher. Keith reported the proposal presented by PRI did not meet bid specs when bids were let, even after a call to them for clarification. A second call went unanswered.
Keith also told the council he plans to put the Bohannon Avenue and Austin Street paving projects up for bids again.
GREENEVILLE MUNICIPAL PLANNING COMMISSION
Ben Brooks will serve another three year term on the Greeneville Municipal Planning Commission. His current term is to expire at the end of the month as does the term of Lindy Riley, who is stepping down after 15 years. Applications for that opening are on the Town web site at greenevilletn.gov. The deadline to submit applications is June 27th.

Special event sign applications were approved for:
–the Dog House Anniversary Celebration. John Carter has been located at 526 Justis Drive seven years today.
–the Greene County Fair which is celebrating 75 years July 21-26
–and Jogging for Jess, which is August 9th.
A special event application for a Gifts For Kids fundraiser event in Town Square July 11th was also approved.
