High School anglers from across the state launched their boats onto Dale Hollow Lake in hopes of landing “The Big One” in the Tennessee BASS Nation state tournament. The two day event began Friday afternoon amid some dicy weather and will conclude Saturday morning.
After the first day, Walker LaRue and Jake Hatfield of Alcoa led the field after catching 5 fish for a total weight of 17.45 pounds.
Locally, Noah Wright and Shane Williams of South Greene were able to catch 3 fish totalling 6.94 pounds to sit in 55th place.
Chuckey Doak’s Brodie and Kobie Gibson caught 2 fish weighing 3.84 pounds to have them seeded 103rd after the first day.
The final local group in the field was Jaxon Taylor and Christian Darnell from South Greene. They were able to hook one fish that weighed 3.84 pounds, placing them in 114th place.
Teams will launch their boats early Saturday morning looking to move up the leaderboard.
